Here's some art I did in various stages of development from The Gallery P2: heart of the Emberstone by Cloudhead Games
Initial Emberstone Beast design. we referred to it internally as Boulder, as initially he was a rok/lava monster
(Scrapped) Environment Layout. Initially, boulder was going to be a giant mountain that would later unfurl and transofrm into the character as the player wakes it. Boudler would then provide transport from his central position to each location
Another iteration of Boulder. I loved this one, but still much happier with the final Plant based version
This is the doodle that led to Final Boulder
An early design for the player gauntlet. this would later inspire the more steampunk direction of the Grasp
At the start of the project, the royal siblings were brothers. I wanted to incoporate a Legacy of Kain reference in their look reversal
final boulder base body hi res sculpt in zbrush, used for baking normals in substance
Codenameed "Kevin", I'm not gonna reveal this little fella's role in the game so as to avoid spoilers. Suffice ot say I had an absolute blast comign up with this guy. This is the final game asset textured in Substance Painter
The low poly game ready "Kevin"
The Hi Res sculpt used to bake detail back on to the base mesh
